Hotel & Resort Insider recently published their Top Holiday Trends for 2010.  Not sure that I agree with all of them, but some interesting info.  At this time of year there are lots of forecasts.  No one has all the answers but you can arm yourself by reading the various predictions.  Knowledge is power.
