  3. Ask how long the company has been in business and for a list of past clients. Novice inspectors often don't know what to look for and are not up-to-date on the latest industry trends.
  4. Make sure that you receive a detailed report on the inspected property and not just a pre-printed checklist.
  5. Ask if the report includes information on industry trends.  
  6. Ask if the report will be kept confidential.  
  7. Check references.
